Sun Valenta Design was founded in 2014 by award-winning interior designer Sun Ju Valenta and her architect husband, David. With over a decade of experience in workplace, commercial, residential, and hospitality interiors, our studio has thrived on long-term client relationships, trust, and a steadfast commitment to quality-driven design.
We specialize in creating interiors for both commercial and residential spaces that are practical yet refined. Our designs enhance productivity in workplaces and foster a warm, personal atmosphere in homes. We focus on how spaces are genuinely used rather than solely on their appearance.

As a passionate interior designer and small-business entrepreneur, Sun Ju brings expertise in architecture and interior design solutions, gained over 25 years of experience serving residential and commercial markets, both domestically and internationally. She consistently finds innovative solutions for her clients and is particularly interested in the finer details of her work. Sun Ju leverages her diverse design expertise to meet her clients’ needs.
Prior to Sun Valenta Design, she worked for major global interior design firms, including Gensler Associates, Swanke Hayden Connell Architects, and Min Associates. From these experiences, she developed her own design approach and style for commercial, residential, and hospitality projects, with a focus on workplace trends and strategy. Her clients consistently laud her value, authenticity, and ability to solve problems in a positive, practical manner.
Outside of her design work and entrepreneurial pursuits, Sun Ju centers her life around family, outreach, and faith. Giving back is a core value that guides both her personal and professional life.

Even before we got to the decoration fun, Sun had quite a few great ideas of the house design improvements that would make the house look nicer, improve its flow and increase its value. She then worked with us to find the best contractor, walked him over the list of changes and made sure that the changes are completed.
Sun helped us a lot with the decorative choices - color of the walls, blinds, drapes, rugs, furniture, etc… She is very easy to work with - she is responsible, reliable and takes your opinion into consideration. Sun is down to earth with her suggestions, offers enough options to choose from, and is budget conscience.
I am very pleased with the result of her work - there are so many things I would miss out on if not for Sun’s help. I would definitely recommend her services to anyone.

I have worked with other interior designers before and she is definitely the best in all aspects - she understands the construction process and is very resourceful.
She was also so positive and pleasant to work with, going out of her way to make sure things were completed well. She paid attention to every little detail that mattered to me (I tend to be picky) and I am completely satisfied and beyond!

And incorporating them into the end design while also challenging us to move a little out of our comfort zone at times. (This is what we pay her for! She does this in a nice and balanced way.)
She helped us with our basement build-out, adding a lot of value. We originally hired her for just finishing touches, but she actually helped us redesign the entire layout with our architect that resulted in a much more usable and aesthetically pleasing space, maximizing every square foot.
We are now moving on to the first (main) floor and have already loved the concepts she presented. In addition to a great design sense, she is very professional, responsive and has a very hard work ethic.

Try to help us speed up everything. After we discuss our needs and budget she help us works out everything in the way that we want. All in a very reasonable price.
Even though we discussed and agreed that she only come to our restaurant for 2 times, she always responds to messages and give us well support.
